After our initial session with Mika, I can say that walking my aussie pup will never be the same. I have been walking dogs for 16 years, and today's walk was the easiest I have experienced. I had never done any training with any of our dogs. Our current dog was struggling with pulling and interacting with other dogs on our walks. With proper tools, and instructions from Mika, I was able to properly communicate what i wanted from my pup and she was exceptional on her leash walk. We typically have a lot of pulling and stopping on our walks. Today was smooth sailing, with only a few small corrections to her direction. I actually felt relaxed during this walk, rather than continuously focusing on correcting what the pup was doing. I know it will only improve from here. We plan to continue training with Mika. We came to DDZ to get help with our shy, timid boxer. We saw a lot of change in our pup very quickly.
We did crate training and agility to boost her confidence. Coming here was the best thing we did for our dog and for us as owners. We learned so much coming here. We highly recommend Mika and DDZ.

Mika was amazing with my boy and teaching me on how to be a better dog mom. Watson has gained self confidence and is such a sweet boy. Mika unleashed his wanting to learn new things all the time and he loves nothing better than to show them off. Our walks are now so pleasant. I would not take my dog to anyone else! I can’t wait to sign him up for some activities and adventures this summer.

Only amazing things to say about Mika and the Doggy Discovery Zone -she is incredible, and our training sessions were the best decision we made as a new dog family! We recently adopted sweet Murphy, who came to us with lots of energy, some doggy anxiety, and also some bad habits (leash biting, jumping, mouthing, etc). Mika helped us to understand the reasons for Murphy’s behaviour, and made us more confident in our interactions with him in those tough situations. She even visited our home to witness the shenanigans in his natural environment! She has been a wealth of information, and her love of dogs is clear in her practice. Under her direction, and with her ongoing encouragement, Murphy is starting to settle into his new life with us, and we can’t thank her enough.

We decided our little Havashire (Yorkie/Havanese) doggy needed, what we called, a “boot camp”. Joey is a very smart doggy, but we had recognized a couple of things going on with him that we felt needed to be addressed before it became a problem. Mainly randomly being reactive to certain dogs he met along our walks and his recall certainly needed some work. We decided Doggy Discovery was exactly what was needed. I can’t say enough about Mika, she is extremely knowledgeable in doggy behaviour and how to redirect, she uses a very positive approach and her results with Joey were immediate! She predicted what his behaviour would be and explained and demonstrated how to get Joey to participate. Not only did we get help with the 2 concerns we came with, Joey learnt how to do a couple more tricks, how to enjoy his crate again and how to stay comfortably on his bed - which will be necessary for our next classes with Mika, which is agility. Highly recommend Mika, you won’t be disappointed.

We took our puppy Elliott to puppy classes with Mika and they were great. We learned not only how to train her but why she was doing things and the best way to deal with them. Mika was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly and pleasant to deal with. And Elliott even got a medal when she was done.

We were looking for something beyond basic obedience to do with our German Shepard. We wanted something fun and decided to try agility. We could not be happier with our decision to join Mika at Doggy Discovery Zone. She is an amazing trainer, very knowledgeable and a super nice person. The small class size allows for much more personal instruction. Agility is physically and mentally stimulating for Rex as well as a great way to socialize our dog and have a lot of fun doing so.

I brought my wild rescue pup to Mika with some behavioural concerns for an assessment and also attended puppy lessons and it completely transformed our relationship and my boy’s behaviour. It helped build our bond and gave me all the foundational tools to be a strong leader and help guide him to his full potential. I was so impressed by how knowledgeable she was especially on his specific breed. Staying consistent with her training techniques changed everything for us and I’m so grateful!
