A little about us and why we do what we do.
We LOVE and adore every single type of dog out there. My name is Mika, I am the founder and owner of Doggy Discovery Zone. I met my husband 10 yrs ago, and he is just as much of a dog lover as I am! I am a Positive Reinforcement Dog Trainer, Behavioral & Aggression Consultant and an Architectural Technologist by trade and my husband is an Engineer; this is why you will always see new renovations around the property.
We both try and live in the moment like all the wonderful dog clients we get to see every day. We now have a beautiful 5 acre property, secured with a 5 foot fence. We designed and built a custom 5,000 sf patio with a dog pool, deck and armor stones for your furry friends. We are recently getting into agility to be more active ourselves and get those dogs working for their meals! Stay tuned for some property upgrades throughout the year.

Living in a large city I quickly realized the struggles of owning a large dog in a crammed yet large city. Between finding rental apartments that allowed dogs, to taking transit with a 65lb dog hahaha, to hurrying home to let the dog out and being stuck in traffic. This made me quickly realize that there should be more dog vacation retreats! Why don't dogs get to have unlimited freedom, why can't I bring my pup somewhere where I know she will be loved and exercised as if she was living her happiest days!?
Any time I left her somewhere she would always return home to me distressed, constipated and sadder then I could imagine. Fast forward 15 years I have owned multiple Shepherds, a Husky, Lab, Dalmatian, Beagle, Basset hound, Collie and a German Pinscher. We specialized in boarding of all types of dogs for the first fours years we ran this business, then COVID hit. Instead of closing down due to limited travel we transitioned into a Training and Daycare facility to help all those COVID puppies. We have loved all the new changes!!!

This vision goes back to when I lived in Erin, Ontario. Living in the country you certainly learn to enjoy the finer things in life, I loved watching my dog (Dela) run as much as she wanted, knowing she would always come home. Seeing her free made me happy. My schooling and career brought me to Toronto but my heart brought me back to the country.
Xena Warrior Princess - 8yr old Siberian Husky/ German Shepherd cross. Xena has a lot of personality and loves fetch and water more then food or attention. Xena has helped over 100 dogs rehab from fear, she is my partner!
Penny - 3 yr old - Red German Pinscher. Penny likes dogs more then people and treats more then toys. Penny is a happy-go-lucky puppy whom always want to train! |
This brings us to today, we own a 5 acre beautiful property that we like to share with our dog clients. We only take in a few dogs at any time because we have two of our own beautiful girls. We keep them all separated, in their own 100-300sf suites inside our home but have a max capacity of 10 dogs on any given day.
If you bring your dogs to us, you will get text messages from us with photos of how much fun they are having, rain / snow or shine! We like to think of it as a vacation for your dog, when you're on vacation.
